Police Still Investigating New Year's Day Crash

Cookeville police say they are still investigating an accident which injured two people on New Year's Day. According to authorities, a truck landed on its top in the Walmart parking lot about 3:30 in the morning, after running off of Veterans Drive. According to a press release from the department, the one vehicle crash occurred on Saturday, January 1, at approximately 3:26 a.m., on East Veterans Drive near Walmart. A 2003 Ford F250 pick-up truck was traveling east bound on East Veterans Drive, when it veered off the right side of the pavement. Police say the vehicle overcorrected and then traveled back across the oncoming lane sliding sideways into a ditch, overturning, and coming to rest in the south side of the Walmart parking lot landing on its top. Two persons were found inside the vehicle. They were identified as Brandon S. Keylon of Cookeville, and Marissa Jones of Paw Paw, Michigan. Both occupants were transported to Cookeville Regional Medical Center for treatment. Captain Mark Maxwell says the case is still under investigation by the Department's Traffic Division.
