School Board To Consider Salt Spreader
The Putnam County Board of Education on Thursday will consider spending some $5,000 on the purchase of a salt spreader for the school system. While schools are generally closed during inclement weather, officials say the parking lot of at least one school has had an ongoing problem with ice remaining on the pavement, even when the streets are clear. The school board will also consider purchasing a used pick-up truck and an SUV. The money for those purchases would be taken from reserves. Meanwhile, the Putnam County Family YMCA will be asking the board to OK a proposal to modify the sign for Avery Trace Middle School, located at the corner of Spring Street and Raider Drive. The "Y" wants the sign to indicate to drivers that both the school and the "Y" are located on Raider Drive. The YMCA would bear the cost of the project.
