Woman Gets 4-Year Prison Term For Killing
A Putnam County woman has been given a four-year prison term in the stabbing death of her ex-husband in 2009. Court officials say 28-year-old Dana Kay Garrett was sentenced this week in Criminal Court. She had originally been charged with second degree murder in the death of Toney Dale Garrett, but had pleaded guilty to reckless homicide last October. Mr. Garrett's family had opposed the plea deal and reportedly voiced their objections during the sentencing hearing. Reckless homicide carries a possible sentence of two to four years, and Judge David Patterson decided a four-year term was appropriate in the case. Dana Garrett was immediately taken into custody to begin serving that sentence.
