20-year-old Cookeville native Cody Brewer will be making his professional bull-riding debut this week. He'll be competing in the Pro Bull Riders Inc. Knoxville Invitational, Feb. 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Thompson-Boling Arena. Brewer tells the Knoxville News-Sentinel that his bull-riding experience began five years ago while competing in a Cookeville-area rodeo as a bareback horse rider . He was asked to step in and replace another rider in the bull riding competition and won the event despite having never ridden a bull. The Touring Pro Division serves as the minor league, where the riders prove themselves. After every five events, the top five (based on money earned) from the lower division will move up and the bottom five from the top division move down. The first cut of the season will happen after Saturday's event.
