New Information In Putnam County Rape Case
New details have come out about the case of a Monterey man, accused of raping a female acquaintance last week. Monterey's Hilltop Express newspaper is reporting today that the police report on the incident alleges that the suspect, 37-year-old Michael Kenneth Winn of South Poplar Street, came to the door only after police answering a 911 call made several attempts to get someone to answer. Monterey police officer Larry Bates said he noticed visible marks on Winn's right hand. The paper says that while police were standing in the doorway, a woman came running into the living room, wearing only a shirt yelling, "Help me! Help me! He is raping me!" The victim allegedly told the officers that she and Winn had been arguing earlier in the day and, at one point, he had tried to run over her with his truck and dragged her to the ground. Winn later allegedly continued to beat on the victim, and she called 911 when he left the room.
