Tennessee Tech Officials Issue Safety Advisory
Tennessee Tech officials have issued an advisory to both students on campus and those who drive through the area to keep safety in mind. TTU Safety Director Jim Cobb says that when it comes to pedestrian safety on campus, it's a two way street. He says both the drivers on campus and pedestrians are responsible for helping to keep everyone safe. Cobb says both drivers and pedestrians can be distracted while using iPods and other mobile devices, which creates potential safety hazards. And he says one of the challenges that TTU faces is that the population is continually turning over. That's why Cobb is reminding drivers that the speed limit on campus is 15 mph at all times. And he's telling pedestrians to take care crossing Dixie Avenue and all streets running through our campus; look in all directions before stepping into the roadway; and use the designated crosswalks.
