Cookeville will be the focal point as four US packaging firms, which specialized in packaging pharmaceutical products, have now merged to create a company called Aphena Pharma Solutions. Company officials say the merger is a bid to create a single-source offering. The new entity combines Cookeville-based PrePak Systems, with Celeste Contract Packaging, TestPack and Integrated Pharmaceutical Packaging. Celeste Contract Packaging is based in Easton, Md. and will become the new liquid and topical division of Aphena Pharma Solutions. The others will become the solid dose division of Aphena Pharma Solutions, offering contract packaging and repackaging for the pharmaceutical, over the counter, and consumer product markets The company will make such things as flexible packets, bottles, blisters and tubes.
Renard Jackson, the CEO of Aphena Pharma Solutions said: "Through each company's individual efforts, we've offered our clients the best services and products. Now we are poised to offer more products and even better service with an extreme level of single-source efficiency."
Aphena, which is headquartered at PrePack's former base in Cookeville, has a chain of five facilities in Franklin and Glasgow in Kentucky, Whippany, New Jersey and Easton, Maryland.
