Cookeville Residents Scare Off Burglars

Cookeville police say would-be burglars have been interrupted in at least two cases under investigation this week, including one in which a woman who lives on Virginia Avenue went outside and discovered a man searching through her car. She told police that she yelled at the man and he ran away, but not before apparently stealing her wallet. Meanwhile, on Bradley Drive, a woman told police that she was awakened Saturday night by the sound of her back door being kicked in. A short time later, a man with a flashlight came into her bedroom, but the victim says she yelled at the intruder and threatened to shoot him. She says that he also yelled and ran from the scene.
