Overton Man Arraigned On Explosives Charge
An Overton County man, charged with illegally possessing a prohibited weapon, was arraigned in court on Wednesday. Authorities say they found a case and a half of dynamate at 50-year-old Douglas Wright's home on the Jamestown Highway. They had gone to the residence last week after receiving a tip that Wright could have been the person responsible for making a pipe bomb that found its way to a home in White County. Authorities say Wright may have stolen the dynamite from Cookeville-based Swift Construction, when he worked there a couple of years ago. The current owner of the company tells the Overton County News that the company no longer handles explosives, choosing to subcontract that work when it's necessary.
