CRMC To Host Community Health Fair
Cookeville Regional Medical Center will be hosting its quarterly Health and Fitness Fair on Saturday, April 16 from 7 to 10 am with information booths focusing on heart health. The Health Fair is open to the public. A number of screenings will be available, including blood pressure, cholestorol, Vitamin D level and bone density screening. One of the newest screenings available at this health fair is for a condition called Hereditary Emphysema or AAT Deficiency. Hereditary Emphysema is a genetic disorder resulting from a deficiency from Alpha-1 Antitrypsin. The American Lung Association estimates that there are approximately 100,000 people in the United States who suffer from AAT deficiency, and up to 90% of those with the deficiency are undiagnosed. Early detection involves taking a blood sample with a simple finger stick. The health fair will be held in the hospital’s Education Center located inside the East entrance of the hospital beside the Emergency Room. Registration is required to attend. To register and to see complete pricing of screenings, please visit the hospital’s website or call The Community Wellness Department at 783-2587.
