Traffic Stop Leads To Meth Charges

What began as a routine traffic stop for a Putnam County sheriff's deputy ended up with drug charges being filed against the driver.  Authorities say Deputy Steven Elrod pulled over 40-year-old Jackie Clyde Elrod Jr. of North Quinland Lake Road because he had knowledge that Elrod's license had been suspended.  He confirmed that information during the traffic stop on Willow Avenue, and later discovered that Elrod's truck was acting as a rolling meth lab with all of the ingredients commonly used to make meth located in both a duffel bag in the front seat and in a suitcase in the bed of the truck.  Officers say they found both finished product and several "one-pot" meth labs in the midst of making the illegal drug.  Elrod was booked under $76,000 bond and will be in court on the charges April 25th.
